SADHNA SATSANGS

Sadhna (meditation) is an essential step in the seekers pursuit of the Almighty as it allows him to remember the Lord with complete concentration and devotion. Sadhna Satsangs (spiritual workshops) by Swami ji embody in themselves all the virtues a true seeker of God should possess. It is an endeavor by Pujya Swami ji to blend the ancient religious practices and routines of meditation with the lifestyles of the modern world.

The ancient sages considered early morning as the ideal time for chanting God’s name. Hence, all the attendees of Sadhna Satsang have to start their day quite early. After a light morning snack, seekers attend different spiritual sessions according to a pre-decided time table. A typical day in Sadhna Satsang is laced with distributed meditation sessions, recital of bhajans, discourse on various ancient scriptures and Ram naam jaap (saying the name of Lord Rama). A seeker has to remain in isolation to draw the maximum benefit of this workshop. A set of guidelines, shared before the registration, need to be followed religiously by every seeker. Any form of interpersonal communication, including but not limited to usage of mobile phones, internet, letters, verbal chit-chats, or contact with the outside world is strictly prohibited during the Sadhna Satsang. Any contact or proximity between family members, all of whom might be attending the Sadhna Satsang, is also not allowed. Dietary routines, especially designed to provide the seeker with the optimal level of nutrition required for meditation, need to be adhered to without any abeyance. Exceptions to these rules are far and few and can only be made with a personal permission from Pujya Swami ji himself. The aim of having strict rules and enforced discipline is to enable a seeker to have complete solitude where the only thing on his mind is his unification with the Almighty.

Swami ji’s pragmatic approach to meditation is evident as the day winds up with a “Vinod Sabha” (laughter session) where seekers are encouraged to tell jokes or narrate some funny instances. Such a session is aimed to relaxing the seeker’s mind from any anxiety or self-doubt so that the mind is ably prepared for the next day. An elevated level of concentration is must throughout a seeker’s pursuit of the Almighty. Hence, the Sadhna Satsang has been designed to have multiple sessions of short durations (a maximum of one hour, mostly) so that the seekers don’t experience any lapse in concentration. Sadhna Satsangs, of different durations, have been held with great fervor at multiple places across India and the USA
